Attention fellow bluehairs:
If you told us you "maybe" are coming, we hope you can. If you told us you aren't coming and you received this anyway, it's because we hope you will change your mind and note that there will be at least 2 medical professionals present who can leap into action at a moment's notice. For the rest of you, we are delighted to be able to see you in just a few weeks. You can always update your RSVP here. We will need a head count for dinner by June 8 or so.
A few things to note...
- If you are staying at the South Point, they have a free shuttle to and from the airport. It requires an advance reservation. Click here for more info
- Please join us to hang out at the South Point pool the afternoon of Sunday June 12 whenever you arrive. Don't forget your drink chits if you got in on the deal in April.
- Please be our guests for dinner on Sunday June 12 at 7 pm at Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant, 4850 W. Flamingo Rd. Ste. 10Las Vegas, NV 89103, 702-473-5999. I believe they can accommodate several dietary constraints but you may want to verify this for yourself.
- After dinner we will probably do some light gambling at Ellis Island or maybe play some $3 craps down in Henderson's nether regions.
- For those staying through Monday, June 13, we have a variety of concurrent and mostly mutually exclusive activities to choose from. After breakfast together at the buffet, you can:
- Join Nancy for mikva and massage in the women's side of the Spa Costa del Sur at the South Point, if you qualify as a woman, followed by clearance rack analysis at the outlet mall. Please make your own reservation at spacostadelsur.com. Nancy's reservation will probably be for early afternoon, around 1pm or so.
- Join Sammi and Levi at Cowabunga Bay water park. If we book online in advance, tickets for that day are around $24 with dynamic pricing. At the door they are $45. Or they might choose to hang around
- Bottom feed with Doug, see below
- Or enjoy time to yourself
- Monday evening:
- 5 pm: Happy Hour at the Hawthorn Grill on the patio, at The Resort at Summerlin (JW Marriott & Rampart Casino)
- 6:30 pm: Dinner at NY Deli Buffet (menu) at the Marketplace Buffet at the Resort at Summerlin. Again we will have 2-for-1 coupons, so don’t go in without a partner.
- 9pm: Movie Night: $4 for the Olds (50+) at the South Point Cinemas or gambling
- Tuesday June 14
- 8:00 am: Shvitz with Doug at Spa Costa del Sur men’s spa
- 10:00 am: breakfast/brunch somewhere cheap TBD
- Maybe…? Tour of active adult community from an X-generation perspective, depending on who is left.
- We Bergpersons will technically stay next door at the Grandview timeshare resort, but we have ways to finagle our way into the pool, spa, etc at the South Point.
Bottom Feeding w/ Doug

In anticipation of the antics to ensue on Monday June 13, I'll be securing your memberships in the Las Vegas Advisor shortly. There are a few things to note here and I need your replies by Tuesday May 31.
TL;DR: You need to read this!
- To participate in the coupon run, you will need to provide ID and an email address and enroll in slot clubs at every casino we visit. If this is not acceptable to you, please let me know asap and I won't get a membership for you. (you can opt in later but you may need to purchase your own membership and pick up your book at the LVA office.)
- If you believe I have missed anyone in the email, such as your spouse, please let me know asap.
- If the email where you received this is not the email to use for your membership, please let me know which one to use.
- This doesn't need to be the same email address that you give to slot clubs. But you will get information / promotional email from all of them if you don't opt out.
- I strongly recommend not using your work email. As a vegas enthusiast I personally have an email address just for vegas related stuff.
- Once you receive an email confirming your membership, please go to www.lasvegasadvisor.com and complete your registration if needed. I recommend you do this from a computer and not a phone. You should not need to pay anything.
- While logged in, please click on this link for the 2-for-1 breakfast buffet at the South Point. Since the LVA website is kind of low-tech, please print the coupon as a PDF and email the pdf to me and I'll print it for you. (or you can bring the copy you print from the pdf) Importantly, please don't print it directly to your printer, because any malfunction will void the coupon and you will need to call LVA to figure out how to fix it. Please do this even if you are coming solo, because we will have other people not doing the coupon run who can be your +1.
- If you encounter any problems, please call Paula at the LVA office at 702-252-0655 and let her know you are one of the people in my group.
- I'll give you your coupons at dinner on Sunday. Don't lose them! You can only get one book per year.
- Some of the casinos we will visit offer extra bonuses if you show your boarding pass from your flight, depending on the airline. For example: El Cortez and I think there is also one for the Golden Gate but I couldn't find a link. However you may need to do it on a different day than our coupon run. For people flying in, please save a copy of your boarding pass, preferably on paper, but I have heard they also accept a screen shot shown on your phone.
- I'll probably open a group chat to arrange rides etc. Please let me know if you would like to opt in for this. If you do, may I gently remind you that there may be people on it that you don't know personally.
- My understanding is that Todd and possibly Roger and and/or Roland will have cars and be willing to drive; please confirm. I have an ostensible 7-passenger rental reserved if needed. I think I'm the shortest (albeit not the lithest) and it would take me like 10 minutes to get in or out of the way-back. So it might fit more like 5 people.
Thanks,
The Bergpersons
